Start at Windhoek and travel north taking in some of the country’s best established farmland. After entering Etosha take a game drive through to Okaukuejo and set up camp. Okaukuejo was originally the site of a German fort but now houses the Etosha Ecological Institute. The round watchtower can still be seen and is a remnant of the original fort.

After an evening meal head to one of Etoshas floodlit waterholes for the chance to see some of Etoshas big game such as black rhinos, lions, Africa’s tallest elephant’s and various species of antelope can be seen especially during the cool dry season.

The next morning head out to Halali camp, on the way visit some of the parks waterholes for more chances of seeing big game. Take in the stunning views of the massive Etosha Pan, a shallow depression that stays dry for most of the year but fed by moisture from perennial springs on the fringes.

This gives you the chance to see species that you don’t normally see on the Okaukuejo side of the park. Stop and rest at the Halali camp for lunch, you can also take this rest opportunity to have a drink at the bar and a leisurely swim in the pool.

Then head back to camp for the evening. In the morning begin the long scenic route back to Windhoek. On the way back call in at Okahandja home of Namibia’s largest wood crafting market. The perfect place to pick up your Namibian souvenirs.
