On arrival stay in Nairobi for the night and relax after a long journey. In the morning drive to Tsavo National Park and settle into your lodge. After lunch head out on a game drive and visit Mzima Springs where you can see hippos and crocodiles swimming in the waters and basking beside the springs in the sun. Head down to the underground viewing chamber to see the variety of colourful fish swimming in the waters. In the evening head back to your lodge to rest.
After breakfast head to Amboseli one of Kenya’s best loved parks. The park is home to around 1,000 elephants, the low vegetation in this park gives you more of a chance to see some of the stunning wildlife on offer. The park also has stunning views of Mount Kilimanjaro, the world’s tallest freestanding mountain. On a clear day you may be able to see the snow-capped peaks of the mountains.
As well as elephants the park also has a diverse range of birdlife to take in. After an afternoon drive head back to your lodge. The next day head out on a morning and afternoon game drive look out for zebras, lion and buffalo as well as hippos in the swamplands. The park has lush green vegetation in some parks due to the continuous water supply from the melting snow of Kilimanjaro.
The next morning head to Samburu with a full day of morning and afternoon game drives. Watch out for the Samburu special five: the gerenuk, besia oryx, reticulated giraffe, Grevy’s zebra and Somali ostrich. On these drives you will also get the opportunity to spot leopard, lion and cheetah.
The next day travel to Sweetwater’s Serena Camp for lunch and afternoon game drive. Here you can see the stunning chimpanzee and rhino sanctuaries drive back to the camp in the afternoon for some under canvas sleeping.
Head over to Thompson’s falls and have lunch there. This is one of the best parks for viewing herds of rhinos, a rare stunning site.
